Turning a Chat or Email Widget Button into a Text Link

Overview

By default, your Chat widget and Email call-to-action (CTA) is an image / button. This guide will walk you through customizing your widget code to show a text link CTA instead.


Note: It is recommended that you are familiar with HTML before making any changes to the default code.

The first step is to grab the standard default widget code from within your Desk Admin. For your Chat widget, visit AdminChannelsChatWidgets and click Embed Code. For your Email widget, visit AdminChannelsEmailWidgets and click Embed Code.

Note: You cannot edit or make any changes to the Embed Code directly from Desk. You must copy the Embed Code from Desk and paste it into your website file(s) to make the necessary changes.

To customize the text label, add a new parameter to your Chat widget code: ctaLabel: 'Chat Now!',
