How do I remove auto-fill from chat widget?

By default, your customer-facing chat widget has "autocomplete" enabled. As a result, as your customers type their replies, suggestions pop-in based on inputs they've previously made – like this:

This is often more confusing than helpful. Fortunately, it's easy to remove the autocomplete feature of your chat widget. Just follow these 6 steps:

  1. Visit Desk Admin
  2. At the top, click Channels
  3. On the left, click Chat → Chat Widget
  4. At the top-right, change the chat widget theme `Type` from "New Chat Screen" to "Chat Connected Screen".
  5. Find the theme in the list that has a blue Default label. Click the title of this theme to edit it. 
  6. Find and replace {{ chat_send_area }} with {{ chat_send_area | replace: "<input ", "<input autocomplete='off' " }}
  7. Save and test to verify fixed.
