Customizing the Console

Let's take a look at the Salesforce Lightning Console App User Interface. This is what your users see when they navigate to a specific record within Salesforce.

To select objects, use the item menu in the navigation bar (1). Records selected from the table list view or split view open as workspace tabs (2). When you click related records from the workspace tab, those records open as subtabs (3). To keep you efficient and productive, Case Details components shows you highlights of the case details (4). You can view and update a record using the details area (5), the feed (6). Related record components lets you access relevant information such as Knowledge articles (7). Finally, utilities let you access common processes and tools, like History and Macros (8). 

We can easily customize how this page looks like to your users, and here's how!

Customize the App Interface:
  1. Gear Icon > Edit Page
  2. Within the App Builder, you can drag and drop components customize the details of your lightning page. Here is a brief walkthrough of the Lightning App Builder:

    In the Components Pane (1), you’ll find standard Lightning components provided by Salesforce, plus any App Builder-friendly custom components in your org. You'll also be able to find lots of components on the AppExchange (2). The Highlights Panel component provides key fields and important actions for a record (3). Click the component in the list or on the page to view its properties. If you added a Highlights Panel, you'll see its properties in the Properties panel (4). After you have finished configuring your page, save it (5). The page must be activated before users can see it (6). After you activate the page, clicking Save makes any changes you’ve made visible to users right away.

Keep in mind that page layouts can be different for each type of record. Now that you know how to customize the Lightning Console, you can tailor the page to meet your agents' needs!
