Desk-like Communities Theme [Draft]

The Desk team has created a Desk-like theme for Salesforce Communities that we are offering free to all Desk customers! Use the steps below to install the beta version of this theme. Use the feedback form at the bottom of this article to send feedback our way!

Prepare Your Org

  1. If you've previously installed the theme, uninstall it.
  2. On the left, use Quick Find to access Communities Settings.
  3. Click the checkbox for Enable communities, pick a name, and click Check Availability, then click Save.

Install the Theme

  1. Install the Lighting bolt package/theme (v.0.1) at https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04t6A000001trh2
    • If prompted "What if existing component names conflict with ones in this package?", select "Do not install"
    • You can select "Install for Admins Only" if unsure which to select
    • Click Install
  2. Create a community
  3. In your new communities Workspaces, click into Administration → Preferences and check the checbox 'Show all settings in Workspaces' and click Save.

Prepare Your Org

  1. If you've previously installed the theme, uninstall it.
  2. At the top-right, click the Gear icon to enter Setup.
  3. On the left, use Quick Find to access Users, edit your user, and ensure Profile is System Administrator and Knowledge User is checked.
  4. At the top-right, click your avatar and Switch to Salesforce Classic
  5. On the left, use Quick Find to access Knowledge Settings, click 'Enable Salesforce Knowledge, and choose a language'.
  6. On the left, use Quick Find to access Knowledge Settings, click Edit, and Enable Lighting Knowledge.
  7. At the top-right, click your name and Switch to Lightning Experience
  8. At the top-right, click the Gear icon to enter Setup.
  9. On the left, use Quick Find to access Communities Settings.
  10. Click the checkbox for Enable communities, pick a name, and click Check Availability, then click Save.

Install the Theme

  2. Create a community
  3. In your new communities Workspaces, click into Administration → Preferences and check the checbox 'Show all settings in Workspaces' and click Save.

FAQ

Q) On install, I'm getting error "Your org doesn't have access to component forceCommunity:topArticleList"
A) Contact support@salesforce.com and ask for the "Enable Top Articles component in the Customer Service community template" permission to be enabled for your org. Be sure to specify you Org ID in the email (Setup → Company Information).
